Democracy Today NGO, in partnership with the Danish Danner Foundation and with the support of CISU, held a two-day Regional Committees Meeting within the framework of the project “Addressing Violence Against Women in Post-Conflict Armenia.”
Representatives of the regional committees from Gegharkunik, Lori, and Tavush regions participated in the meeting.
The agenda included:
A psychology session led by Elizabeth Poston, a licensed social work professional, international expert in child and family protection, and program leader with more than 30 years of experience. She discussed the nature of violence, its psychological impact, approaches to supporting survivors of violence and working with them in a safe and trauma-informed manner, as well as methods for identifying signs of stress, managing stress, and providing effective psychosocial support.
Discussion of local action plans under the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
Summary of the discussions on the local action plans and planning of the next steps.
The meeting provided an important platform for exchanging experiences, strengthening cooperation among the regional committees, and jointly developing approaches to advance women’s safety, peace, and the effective localization of the Women, Peace and Security agenda at the community level.
