The NGO “Democracy Today” conducted a three-day Democracy School on the topic of electoral rights.
During the meeting, Gulnara Shahinyan, President of “Democracy Today,” emphasized the importance of electoral rights.
Richard Giragosian, Director of the Regional Studies Center, spoke on the topic of democracy in Armenia and the region.
The role of the Human Rights Defender in the electoral process was presented by Lilit Varagyan, Deputy Head of the Research, Expert, and Educational Center of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia. She discussed mechanisms for preventing and addressing violations of electoral rights, as well as the functions of the Human Rights Defender’s Office.
Mary Minasyan, Program Coordinator of the “Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center” NGO, spoke about public oversight mechanisms over elections, the role of observation missions, and tools for ensuring transparency.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of active discussion. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers, share observations, and deepen their knowledge in electoral processes, human rights protection, and public oversight.
The training was attended by women and youth displaced from Artsakh, as well as participants from the Tavush, Syunik, and Lori regions.
