A discussion dedicated to the implementation, achievements, and challenges of the local action plan developed under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 was held in the town of Martuni, Gegharkunik Province, at the initiative of the NGO Democracy Today.
Two years ago, Martuni became one of the first communities in Armenia to develop and adopt its own local action plan for Resolution 1325, aimed at promoting women’s participation in decision-making processes, strengthening community resilience, and ensuring the protection of the rights of women and girls.
The discussion brought together representatives of various community groups, active citizens, women, and people forcibly displaced from Artsakh. Participants had the opportunity to share their perspectives, raise community concerns, and discuss ways to enhance the effectiveness of the program.
The discussion was facilitated by Gyulnara Shahinyan, President of Democracy Today NGO, and Knarik Mkrtchyan, Local Coordinator of the Strengthening Eastern Partnership Resilience program.
The event was organized within the Government of the United Kingdom and implemented by the Institute for War and Peace Reporting within the Buiulding Resilience in Eastern Neighborhood II project.
